Organised on the occasion of Republic Day, the third blood donation drive hosted by Surendra Pathare Foundation proved to be successful and received an overwhelming response from the citizens of Pune. This one-day drive at the Pathare Stadium in Kharadi was overflowing with enthusiastic & passionate blood donors due to which SPF was able to set a new record of 3593 blood bags collected in a day.
SPF initiated the blood donation camp during the COVID period when there was a shortage of blood. In 2021, the camp collected 1644 blood bags which aided more than 4900 people and 30 children while in 2022, it collected 3453 blood bags, helping more than 10000 patients.
Every two seconds of every day, someone needs blood. One blood donation can save the lives of up to three people. Blood donation is an integral shared social responsibility and contributes significantly to making our society a healthier one. Good public health is an important enabler of positive community life and SPF always strives to take initiatives to support this.
During the Corona period, we were able to make a significant contribution in bridging the shortage of blood due to the SPF blood donation camp. SPF will work towards organising this grand sacrifice of blood donation every year on Republic Day as it gives a great opportunity to serve the country.
